Peace River Power Squadron

Who are we ?

We are your friends and neighbors of Charlotte County and surrounding areas, who belong to this organization that is dedicated to teaching the proper and safe way to operate and enjoy your sail or power boat.

We are a unit of the United States Power Squadrons, which covers all 50 states, with a mission to promote high standards of navigation and seamanship. We do those things that will add prestige, honor, and respect to ourselves, our community and the United States Power Squadrons.

No one should be on the waterways without the basic knowledge of the "rules of the road," which define who is expected to do what under any given situation during normal operation of their boat, or in crisis situations. And you can learn all this by taking the classes offered by the Peace River Power Squadron.

One of the prime educational programs for our community is to offer a eight-session public Boating Course for learning the basics of safe boating, whether you own a boat, plan to operate a boat, or just enjoy riding on someone else's boat. Our next class is:

26 September 2000 - Port Charlotte Middle School at 7:00 PM each Tuesday for eight weeks.

27 September 2000 - Punta Gorda Middle School at 7:00 PM each Wednesday for eight weeks.

You can save money, too! Many insurance companies offer discounts to boat owners who have successfully completed this course.

Upon completion of our course, consider joining the Peace River Power Squadron and continuing your boating education by taking many of the advanced classes available. In addition, you can become part of a strictly volunteer, non-profit organization, that has an objective of Self-education, being a Fraternal Boating Club, and performing Civic Services.

For enrollment in the public Boating Course, go to the locations shown, or call (941) 637-0766 for more information.

If you are a member of the United States Power Squadrons who has moved into this area and want to transfer to the Peace River Power Squadron, please contact Eugene J. Gentile, at (941)-575-7982
